God’s protection does not always appear as victory. Sometimes it, Found No Fault In Him comes through closed doors, unexpected rejection, or changed plans. David found himself standing between two armies, yet the Lord quietly redirected his path. This chapter reveals that God’s covenant cannot be interrupted because He faithfully guides His servants according to His perfect will.

“29 The Philistines gathered all their forces at Aphek, and Israel camped by the spring in Jezreel. 2 As the Philistine rulers marched with their units of hundreds and thousands, David and his men were marching at the rear with Achish. “
📖 1 Samuel 29: 3-4 (NIV)
“3 The commanders of the Philistines asked, “What about these Hebrews?”
Achish replied, “Is this not David, who was an officer of Saul king of Israel? He has already been with me for over a year, and from the day he left Saul until now, I have found no fault in him.”
“4 But the Philistine commanders were angry with Achish and said, “Send the man back, that he may return to the place you assigned him. He must not go with us into battle, or he will turn against us during the fighting. How better could he regain his master’s favor than by taking the heads of our own men?”
David and his six hundred men marched behind King Achish as part of the Philistine forces.
When the Philistine commanders noticed David, they immediately questioned why an Israelite warrior was among them.
Achish defended David without hesitation.
He testified,
“I have found no fault in him.”
For more than a year David had faithfully served Achish.
Although David had earned the king’s complete confidence, the Philistine commanders remained suspicious.

“5 Isn’t this the David they sang about in their dances:
“‘Saul has slain his thousands,
and David his tens of thousands’?”
“6 So Achish called David and said to him, “As surely as the Lord lives, you have been reliable, and I would be pleased to have you serve with me in the army. From the day you came to me until today, I have found no fault in you, but the rulers don’t approve of you. 7 Now turn back and go in peace; do nothing to displease the Philistine rulers.”
“8 “But what have I done?” asked David. “What have you found against your servant from the day I came to you until now? Why can’t I go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?”
“9 Achish answered, “I know that you have been as pleasing in my eyes as an angel of God; nevertheless, the Philistine commanders have said, ‘He must not go up with us into battle.’ 10 Now get up early, along with your master’s servants who have come with you, and leave in the morning as soon as it is light.”
“11 So David and his men got up early in the morning to go back to the land of the Philistines, and the Philistines went up to Jezreel.”
They feared that once the battle began, David would turn against them to regain Saul’s favor.
Despite Achish’s trust, the commanders insisted,
“Send the man back.”
Achish reluctantly told David to leave peacefully.
David respectfully asked,
“What have I done?”
Achish again praised David’s character but explained that the decision belonged to the Philistine rulers.
The next morning David and his men quietly departed while the Philistine army marched toward battle.
What appeared to be rejection was actually divine protection.
God prevented David from entering a battle that would have placed him against his own people.
David may not have understood why he was turned away.
Yet God was protecting both David’s future kingdom and his integrity.
The Lord had already promised David the throne of Israel.
He would never allow His chosen king to fight against the nation he was called to lead.
God often closes doors that seem good because He sees dangers we cannot.
His covenant is never threatened by human decisions.
His plans always move forward exactly as He intends.
Sometimes unanswered opportunities are actually answered prayers.
David was disappointed, yet God’s protection was working behind the scenes.
Faith trusts God’s direction even when His reasons are hidden.
Our responsibility is obedience.
God’s responsibility is the outcome.
When we walk faithfully, the Lord will redirect our path whenever necessary to fulfill His greater purpose.
David was declared innocent by Achish, who said, “I have found no fault in him.”
Centuries later, Jesus Christ also stood before earthly rulers who repeatedly found no fault in Him. Yet unlike David, Jesus was not sent away from the battle. He willingly went to the cross to fight the greatest battle ever fought—the battle against sin, death, and Satan.
David was protected because God still had a kingdom for him to establish.
Jesus gave His life so He could establish an eternal kingdom for all who believe.
Every story leads to Jesus Christ, the flawless King who perfectly fulfilled God’s covenant and completed God’s Redemption Plan through His death and resurrection.
