The crucifixion of Jesus did not happen in isolation. On that hill stood three crosses Two Crosses Two Responses, and on either side of the Savior hung two criminals whose lives, choices, and destinies could not have been more different. Their presence reminds us that even in Jesus’ final moments, humanity stood divided in its response to Him.
📖 “They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left. And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, ‘He was counted among the lawless.’”
(Mark 15:27–28, NIV)
Mark draws our attention to the fulfillment of prophecy:
Jesus, the sinless Son of God, was placed among sinners.
This was no accident, no coincidence—it was part of God’s redemptive plan foretold hundreds of years earlier (Isaiah 53:12).
The two men beside Him represent all of humanity:
One rejected Jesus, holding onto the hardness that shaped his life.
The other turned to Jesus, recognizing His innocence and asking for mercy.
Their stories show that every person must decide what they will do with Jesus—even in their final moments.
It reveals Christ’s humility.
He willingly took His place among sinners so He could save sinners.
It highlights God’s mercy.
Even in the last hour, salvation was offered to the repentant thief.
It shows that destiny is shaped by response.
Both men saw the same Jesus, witnessed the same crucifixion, and suffered the same sentence—
yet one entered Paradise and the other refused redemption.
It reminds us that Scripture never fails.
Every detail surrounding Jesus’ death fulfilled prophecy with divine precision.
Remember that Jesus meets us in our brokenness.
No life is too ruined, no sin too deep for His saving grace.
Examine your response to Christ.
Are you resisting or receiving His voice, His Word, His call?
Offer hope to others.
If God extended mercy to a dying criminal, He offers mercy to anyone willing to turn to Him.
Live thankful for your salvation.
Jesus stood among the guilty so that you could stand before God forgiven.
On the hill of Golgotha, three crosses stood—but only one held the Savior of the world.
📖 “They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left. And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, ‘He was counted among the lawless.’”
(Mark 15:27–28, NIV)
The two criminals beside Him show us that God offers every heart a choice.
One mocked and perished.
One believed and lived.
✨ Jesus was counted among the lawless so the lawless could be counted among the redeemed.
