“2 Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also. 2 I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain. 3 Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek.”

” 4 This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. 5 We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.”
“6 As for those who were held in high esteem—whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show favoritism—they added nothing to my message. 7 On the contrary, they recognized that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised,[a] just as Peter had been to the circumcised.[b]”
“8 For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles. 9 James, Cephas[c] and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised. 10 All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along.”
Fourteen years after his conversion, Paul returned to Jerusalem with Barnabas and Titus in response to God’s direction. There he met privately with the recognized leaders of the church to present the Gospel he had been preaching among the Gentiles.
The apostles confirmed that Paul’s message was the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Titus, a Gentile believer, was not required to be circumcised because salvation comes through faith—not through keeping the Law.
Although false believers had secretly infiltrated the church in an attempt to place believers back under religious bondage, Paul refused to compromise.
The truth of the Gospel had to remain pure.
God had entrusted Peter with preaching primarily to the Jews and Paul with proclaiming Christ among the Gentiles. Though their ministries differed, they shared one message, one Savior, and one redemption plan.
📖 Galatians 2:11–14 (NIV)
“11 When Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13 The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.”
“14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?”
When Peter later came to Antioch, Paul publicly confronted him.
Peter had once freely associated with Gentile believers, but after certain men arrived, he withdrew out of fear of criticism from those who insisted on Jewish customs.
His actions created division within the church and even influenced Barnabas.
Paul recognized that this behavior contradicted the truth of the Gospel.
The Gospel breaks down barriers rather than rebuilding them.
God shows no favoritism, and His covenant welcomes both Jew and Gentile through faith in Jesus Christ.
Obedience sometimes requires lovingly confronting error so that God’s truth remains uncompromised.

“15 “We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles 16 know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in[d] Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.”
“17 “But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we Jews find ourselves also among the sinners, doesn’t that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! 18 If I rebuild what I destroyed, then I really would be a lawbreaker”

Paul explains one of the central truths of Christianity.
No person can be justified before God by observing the Law.
The Law reveals sin but cannot remove it.
Only faith in Jesus Christ brings righteousness before God.
Every believer, whether Jew or Gentile, stands equally in need of God’s grace.
Through Christ, believers die to the Law as the means of salvation so they may truly live for God.
God’s redemption plan has always pointed toward faith in His promised Messiah rather than dependence upon human works.
📖 Galatians 2:20–21 (NIV)
“20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”[e]”
These verses form one of the greatest declarations of the Christian life:

Paul explains that his old life has died.
His identity, purpose, and hope are now found completely in Jesus Christ.
Every day he lives by faith in the Son of God, who loved him and willingly gave Himself for him.
If righteousness could be earned through keeping the Law, then Christ’s sacrifice would have been unnecessary.
But God’s grace accomplished what the Law never could.
Through Jesus Christ, believers receive forgiveness, new life, and a living relationship with God.
From Abraham to the coming of Christ, God’s covenant pointed toward salvation through faith.
Jesus fulfilled that promise by accomplishing what no amount of human effort could achieve.
The Law prepared humanity for the Savior, but Christ completed God’s redemption plan through His death and resurrection.
Today every believer—Jew and Gentile alike—is invited into God’s family by grace through faith alone.
God calls people according to His purpose and grace.
The Gospel must never be compromised.
Salvation is offered equally to Jews and Gentiles.
Human works cannot earn righteousness.
Faith in Jesus Christ alone justifies believers.
God’s grace is greater than religious tradition.
Christ transforms the believer’s entire life.
Obedience requires standing firmly for God’s truth.
Jesus Christ lives within every believer who trusts Him.
Galatians 2 reminds believers that salvation is entirely the work of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul defended the Gospel against compromise because eternal life depends upon its truth. Religious traditions and human works cannot justify anyone before God. Instead, believers are united with Christ, living by faith in the One who loved them and gave Himself for them. God’s covenant and redemption plan welcome every nation into His family, proving that the Gospel is built on grace alone, faith alone, and Jesus Christ alone.
