Paul begins by reminding children to obey their parents in the Lord, for this reflects God’s design for the family. He repeats the commandment, “Honor your father and mother,” the first commandment accompanied by a promise of blessing.
Parents also carry a sacred responsibility. Fathers are instructed not to provoke or exasperate their children but to raise them with loving discipline, godly instruction, and encouragement. Whether employee or employer, servant or master, God shows no favoritism. Every act of faithful service is seen by the Lord and will receive His reward. Obedience is not merely outward behavior but an expression of faith that honors God in every responsibility He has entrusted to us.

“11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Paul concludes Ephesians with one of Scripture’s most powerful pictures of spiritual warfare.
Our greatest battle is not against people but against the spiritual forces of evil. Therefore, believers must put on the full armor God provides.
The belt of truth keeps us grounded in God’s Word.
The breastplate of righteousness protects our hearts as we live faithfully before God.
The gospel of peace gives us readiness to stand firm and share the hope of Christ.
The shield of faith extinguishes the enemy’s attacks.

Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”
The armor of God is strengthened through continual prayer.
Paul urges believers to pray in the Spirit on every occasion with perseverance and alertness. Prayer keeps God’s people connected to His strength, wisdom, and guidance during spiritual battles.
Even while imprisoned, Paul asks for prayer—not for his release, but for boldness to proclaim the gospel fearlessly. His example reminds believers that God’s redemption plan advances through faithful witnesses who trust Him regardless of their circumstances.
