📖 Revelation 10:1 (NIV)
“10 Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars.”
Between the sixth and seventh trumpets, God pauses once again to reveal His purpose before His final judgments continue. A mighty angel descends from heaven carrying a little scroll, declaring that God’s mystery is about to be fulfilled. John receives the scroll and is commissioned to continue proclaiming God’s message to the nations.

“2 He was holding a little scroll, which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, 3 and he gave a loud shout like the roar of a lion. When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders spoke. 4 And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven say, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down.”
John sees another mighty angel coming down from heaven.

Standing upon both the sea and the land, he cries out with a voice like the roar of a lion.
When he speaks, the seven thunders answer.

The mighty angel raises his hand toward heaven and swears by the eternal Creator of heaven, earth, and sea.
He declares that there will be no more delay.

📖 Revelation 10:8–10 (NIV)
“8 Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me once more: “Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”
“9 So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but ‘in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.’[a]” 10 I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour.”
John is instructed to take the little scroll from the angel’s hand.
The angel tells him to eat it.
The scroll is sweet like honey in his mouth but turns sour in his stomach.
God’s Word brings both joy and sorrow.
It is sweet because it reveals God’s truth and salvation.
It is bitter because it also reveals judgment upon those who reject Him.
📖 Revelation 10:11 (NIV)
“11 Then I was told, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.”
After eating the scroll, John receives another commission.
He must continue proclaiming God’s message concerning many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.
God’s work is not finished.
His message continues to be proclaimed until His Redemption Plan is complete.
Revelation 10 reminds us that God’s timing is always perfect.
Although His purposes may seem delayed from a human perspective, every promise unfolds exactly as He has declared.
His covenant remains secure, His Word remains true, and His Redemption Plan continues through Jesus Christ until its glorious completion.
God reveals His truth according to His perfect wisdom.
Some mysteries belong to God alone.
God’s timing is always perfect.
His promises will never fail.
God’s Word brings both comfort and conviction.

The little scroll reminds us that God’s Word is both sweet and sobering, offering the hope of eternal life while warning of coming judgment.
