On the fifth day of creation Filling the Air and Seas, the seas and skies began filling with life through the power of God’s Word. The waters teemed with living creatures, and birds filled the skies above the earth. What God had previously prepared through structure and order was now flourishing with movement, growth, and purpose. God blessed His creation and commanded it to be fruitful and multiply. This day reveals another stage of divine order as creation continued expanding according to God’s design, wisdom, and authority over the heavens, earth, seas, and living creatures.
The Fifth Day of Creation
📖 Genesis 1:20 (NIV)
“20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”
On the fifth day of creation, the world began coming alive in a new way.
The seas that God had separated now became filled with living creatures, and the skies above the earth were filled with birds flying across the heavens.
What had once been:
empty
quiet
without movement
was now flourishing with life through the power of God’s Word.
Creation continued unfolding according to His divine order and purpose.
📖 Genesis 1:21
“21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good”
God created:
great creatures of the sea
living creatures throughout the waters
creatures according to their kinds
The oceans and seas were no longer simply part of the earth’s structure — they now contained living creation moving within them.
This reminds us that God not only creates structure, but also fills His creation with life and purpose.
God also created every winged bird according to its kind.
The skies He formed on the second day were now filled with movement and life.
Step by step:
God created the environment
then He filled it
This pattern of preparation before growth continues throughout Genesis.
📖 Genesis 1:22 (NIV)
“22 God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”
God blessed the creatures He created and commanded them to:
be fruitful
increase in number
fill the seas and the earth
This was the beginning of multiplication and continued growth within creation.
God designed life to:
grow
reproduce
flourish
Creation was never intended to remain stagnant.
Throughout the fifth day, Genesis continues revealing:
divine order
progression
preparation
growth
Everything was created:
intentionally
according to its kind
with purpose and direction
God’s creation reflects wisdom and structure, not randomness.
The fifth day marks another major stage in creation.
Now the earth contained:
light
sky
land
seas
vegetation
living creatures in the waters
birds in the skies
Creation was becoming increasingly full and active through God’s command.
The fifth day reminds us:
God fills what He prepares
Growth follows structure
Life was created with purpose
God blesses fruitful growth
Creation reflects divine order
This same principle often appears in life today:
preparation first
growth second
expansion through purpose and direction
The fifth day of creation shows the earth beginning to flourish with living creatures throughout the seas and skies.
What was once empty now overflowed with life through God’s power and blessing.
God’s Word brought movement, growth, and multiplication into creation.
And once again:
📖 Genesis 1:23 (NIV)
“23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.”
God saw that it was good.
