After the crucifixion, Jesus’ disciples were overwhelmed with fear, uncertainty, and grief. They hid behind locked doors, unsure of what would come next. Peace Purpose and Power, but in that moment of confusion, Jesus Himself stepped into the room—bringing not condemnation, but peace, purpose, and the promise of power through the Holy Spirit.

As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’ And with that he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’”

This moment marks a turning point in salvation history. Jesus appears to His disciples after His resurrection, not as a spirit or vision, but in His glorified, living body. His first words—“Peace be with you”—calm their fear and restore their hope.
Then Jesus does three powerful things:
He gives them peace — not just the absence of fear, but the presence of His authority and assurance.
He gives them purpose — “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” Their mission now mirrors His mission.
He gives them power — breathing the Holy Spirit upon them as a foretaste of the coming fullness at Pentecost.
This was not just comfort; it was commissioning. Jesus took a fearful, hiding group of believers and transformed them into future witnesses who would spread the gospel to the world.
Jesus steps into our fears. Locked doors cannot keep Him out—He meets us in moments when hope feels gone.
We are called with purpose. Every believer is sent by Jesus to continue His work of love, truth, and salvation.
The Holy Spirit empowers us. The same Spirit that equipped the disciples empowers us to live boldly for Christ today.
Peace is part of our identity. Jesus does not want His people living in fear, but in the deep peace that only He can give.
Invite Jesus into your “locked rooms”—your hidden fears, doubts, and worries.
Ask God to reveal your purpose in His mission, whether through serving, sharing, encouraging, or teaching.
Rely on the Holy Spirit to guide your decisions, strengthen your faith, and empower your testimony.
Carry Christ’s peace into your relationships, workplaces, and homes.
John 20:19–23 reminds us that the risen Jesus brings peace where fear once ruled, purpose where confusion lived, and power where weakness once overwhelmed. The same Savior who stepped into that room steps into our lives today—breathing life, hope, and the Holy Spirit into all who believe,
