Devil’s Desire, the Bible makes it clear that there is a spiritual enemy who works against God’s people. Satan—often called “the devil”—does not always appear openly, but his desires and tactics are revealed in Scripture. To live faithfully, we must be aware of what the devil wants and how he operates.
Jesus gave us a clear picture of the enemy’s intentions:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:10
The devil’s desire is simple: to oppose God by destroying what He loves—humanity. Every temptation, deception, or distraction is designed to pull us away from truth and life in Christ.
To Steal Your Faith
The enemy tries to sow doubt, discouragement, and fear. If he can weaken your trust in God’s promises, he can leave you spiritually vulnerable.
To Destroy Your Identity
The devil whispers lies: “You’re not loved. You’re not forgiven. You’ll never change.” But God says we are His children, created in His image, redeemed by Christ.
To Divide and Devour
Scripture warns that the devil prowls like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8). He seeks division—in families, churches, and communities—because isolation makes us easier to attack.
Thankfully, we are not left defenseless. Paul reminds us:
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” — Ephesians 6:11
Truth protects against lies.
Righteousness guards against guilt.
Faith shields us from fear.
God’s Word is our sword against temptation.
The devil has desires, but they are limited. God’s power and love far exceed anything the enemy can plan. The cross and resurrection already secured victory over sin and death.
The real question is: What is your desire? If your heart is set on Christ, you will stand firm no matter how fiercely the enemy schemes.
“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.” — James 4:7
