Forgiveness and Salvation

A BLINK OF AN EYE, forgiveness and salvation

Forgiveness and Salvation

The Bible emphasizes that God's promise of forgiveness and salvation is extended to anyone who repents, regardless of their past actions.

Forgiveness and Salvation: No matter how despicable a person’s past actions might be, genuine repentance is always met with God’s forgiveness and the promise of salvation. God’s grace and mercy are available to all who turn to Him, demonstrating His boundless love and desire for all to come to repentance and live.

1 John 1:9 :

  • “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
  • It assures believers that if they acknowledge their sins before God, He is faithful and just, not only to forgive those sins but also to cleanse them from all unrighteousness. It reflects God’s unwavering promise of forgiveness and the transformative power of confession.

Isaiah 1:18:

  • “Come now, let us settle the matter, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

  • This underscores the transformative power of God’s forgiveness, promising complete cleansing from sin for those who repent.

Luke 15:7:

  • “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

  •  Jesus emphasizes the immense joy in heaven when a sinner repents, regardless of their past.

 Timothy 1:15-16:

  • “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.”

  • Paul speaks of his own experience as a former persecutor of Christians, highlighting that God’s mercy and patience are available even to the worst sinners.

Ezekiel 18:21-23:

  • “But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live. Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?

  • This emphasizes God’s mercy and willingness to forgive those who repent. It highlights that even a person who has lived a sinful life can be saved if they genuinely turn away from their sins, follow God’s laws, and do what is right. God does not take pleasure in punishing the wicked but rather delights in their repentance and transformation. This underscores the concept that God’s justice is balanced by His desire for all to live righteously and be saved.

Chronicles 7:14:

  • “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

  • This assures that repentance leads to forgiveness and restoration, emphasizing God’s responsiveness to sincere repentance
